Scope and provider

This policy applies to SPDFV Reader for macOS, provided by X3N LLC. It covers the Mac App Store edition of the app and does not describe the separately distributed full SPDFV application, its command-line tool, or its optional automation components.

SPDFV Reader is a sandboxed PDF reader. It does not require an account and X3N LLC does not operate a backend that receives your documents or activity.

No data collected by SPDFV Reader

SPDFV Reader does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or use personal information for advertising, analytics, profiling, or tracking. The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs.

X3N LLC does not receive your documents, document contents, search terms, passwords, print activity, file names, or usage history through SPDFV Reader.

Documents are processed on your Mac

PDF rendering, thumbnails, outlines, text search, password unlocking, document inspection, and signature verification are performed locally using Apple PDFKit, macOS security services, and the shared open-source SPDFV code.

SPDFV Reader accesses only PDFs you open, drag into the app, or otherwise select through macOS. The app sandbox grants read and write access to user-selected files so you can open a document and save a copy where you choose.

Local storage and recovery

Preferences such as appearance and page layout are stored locally through macOS. macOS may also maintain a local recent-items list for documents you open.

To protect work after an unexpected quit, SPDFV Reader may create a temporary recovery copy in its Application Support container. Recovery copies remain on your Mac and are removed through the app’s normal recovery and document-close flow. Files you save remain in the location you selected until you delete them.

Network access and Apple services

SPDFV Reader does not include the Sparkle updater used by the separately distributed full SPDFV app. Installation, purchases, and updates for SPDFV Reader are handled by the Mac App Store.

Apple may process App Store transactions, aggregated performance information, or diagnostics according to your Apple Account, device, and analytics settings. X3N LLC may receive information Apple makes available to developers, such as aggregated sales data or opt-in diagnostics. That processing is governed by Apple’s policies, not by document-upload code in SPDFV Reader.

Choosing the Source Code or MIT License command opens a GitHub page in your browser. GitHub then receives the ordinary web request and applies its own privacy policy.

Saving and printing

A document leaves SPDFV Reader only when you choose an action such as Save As or Print. A saved copy is written to the destination you select. Printing is handed to the macOS print system and may send the document to the printer or print service you choose, including a network printer.

Once a copy is saved, printed, or opened by another app or service, the destination controls that copy and its own privacy practices apply.

Retention, deletion, and requests

SPDFV Reader has no server-side account or document database. Delete saved documents in Finder and manage recent items and app data through macOS. Removing the app does not necessarily remove documents you saved outside its container.

Because X3N LLC does not receive personal data through SPDFV Reader, there is no app-hosted personal-data record to access, correct, export, or delete.

Children and policy changes

SPDFV Reader is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children or adults. It contains no advertising, social feed, public profiles, or user-generated-content service.

If a future version changes how the app handles data, X3N LLC will update this policy and its effective date before or when that version is released, and will update Mac App Store privacy disclosures when required.
